Bio

Demetrius Wren brings expertise in writing, storytelling and creating art within a community context. He began his artistic training at an early age after enrolling in the Davidson Fine Arts School in Augusta, Georgia, resulting in seven years of study in music, dance, drama and video.  Following Augusta, Demetrius completed a dual studies degree in classical music and motion picture production at the Florida State University before moving to New York City.  While in New York, he served as an assistant writer to Steven Sater for the Tony Award winning musical, “Spring Awakening.”  He spent several months working closely with Robert Wilson at the Watermill Center and has written and directed his own original play, “Legends, Myths and Hieroglyphs,” which will soon be turned into a feature film.  He has taught workshops at the Florida State University Graduate Acting Conservatory in Acting for the Camera for first and second year grad students. Film highlights include the short film Of My God, charitable work for Nolashines.org and From Us With Love, as well as other music videos and art films.  Most recently, Demetrius traveled across South Africa and Australia in production of a feature documentary, Streetball, following the South African Homeless Street Soccer League on their journeys to the 2008 Homeless World Cup held last year in Melbourne, Australia (Funded by From Us With Love).  Much of his work can be found on YouTube under the username deewren1.
